Ava Heuer is a highly respected leader in the field of project management, with expertise in process development, process tailoring, and risk management. In addition to her 25 years experience in the corporate world, her position since 1998 as Vice President of Professional Development for Project Management Institute New Jersey Chapter brings a wealth of training, coaching, and mentoring experience. Most of Ava’s professional experience has been attained through various assignments at Bell Laboratories where she managed R&D projects ranging from underwater sonar systems for the U.S. Navy to wireless telephony. While at Bell Labs, she attained the highest technical position, achieved by less than 1% of the technical population. Her recognized expertise in project management fueled her reputation as a “rescue squad” for projects in trouble as she turned around projects that were on the verge of contract default to become key customer satisfiers. Her more recent experiences in Vendor Management gave her insight into a multitude of businesses ranging from small start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. A key accomplishment was the successful launch of a joint venture to develop a wireless network analysis product. As the manager of the program, Ava was involved in all aspects of the venture launch, from the business and sales efforts to the organizational structure and technology transfer. Although this was a high-risk program, her expertise in risk management enabled the venture to be successfully launched and the product became the primary revenue-generator for the company. Now an independent consultant with special expertise in tailoring processes to fit the size and culture of an organization, Ava has worked with such clients as Sanofi-Aventis, T-Mobile, and Vallent Corporation. She has also been an instructor for Boston University Corporate Education Division and has delivered project management training to professionals at Bristol-Myers Squibb and MetLife. Ava is also an annual reviewer of student theses for a Scholarship Award at Stevens Institute of Technology Graduate Program in Management and has developed and delivers the PMP® Exam Review Class for PMI® New Jersey. Ava
holds a BS in Engineering Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology
(NJIT), an MS in Engineering Science from NJIT, a Master’s Certificate in
Project Management from George Washington University, and in 1996 received
the PMP® Certification
